Recognition

Co-authored and published the article; UDL + SETT = Student Success a Collaborative Approach, in the January 2023 edition of OT Practice by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).

Advocacy for access: full access and participation across the academic environment is a right of all students with disabilities. Using AAC, Stacey and two esteemed colleagues collaborated to discover an alternative method for generating written language in the academic setting. This discovery provided a student experiencing significant reading and writing challenges with the opportunity to 'write' using picture symbols within a web-based AAC software application. This allowed the student to demonstrate their knowledge using an alternative method.

Inspiration

On a personal note, Stacey's professional journey was deeply influenced by her sister Jennifer, who was born with Down Syndrome. Growing up in a family that prioritized support and advocacy for individuals with disabilities, Stacey knew she wanted to continue that legacy through an impactful career.

Driven by passion, Stacey is committed to continuous professional development, actively engaging in ongoing education and research. She considers herself blessed to pursue what she loves -enriching the lives of children and their families through authentic, child-led communication remediation and supported development.
