*SETT: Student Environment, Tasks & Tools

Full access and participation in the academic environment is a right for all students with disabilities. Using AAC, Stacey collaborated with two colleagues to develop an alternative way for a student with significant reading and writing challenges to generate written language. Through a web-based AAC application using picture symbols, the student was able to demonstrate their knowledge using an accessible and meaningful method.

Inspiration

Stacey’s professional journey was deeply influenced by her sister, Jennifer, who was born with Down Syndrome. Growing up in a family rooted in advocacy and support for individuals with disabilities shaped Stacey’s passion for creating meaningful change through her work.

Committed to lifelong learning, Stacey actively pursues ongoing education and research. She feels fortunate to do what she loves supporting children and their families through authentic, child-led communication and development.

Testimonials

In the school setting..."Ms. Brosnan has been a wonderful direct speech-language provider for our son, supporting him at school for many years. She has always been willing to collaborate with our private providers and school teams to educate everyone about our son's complex disability and his needs, while providing valuable feedback to assist in the development of his Individualized Education Plan. Ms. Brosnan has also been a tremendous resource available to collaborate and coordinate with teachers and staff in the school setting to promote and develop critical transition skills for independent living and employment."
